The Marchesa Casati

The Marchesa Casati: Portraits of a Muse
$50

"The Marchesa Casati, at sunset, reclining in her gondola, wrapped in tiger skins and fondling her favourite leopard, is a sight to be seen only in Venice" - Baron Adolph de Meyer

"I saw the fabled Luisa Casati drifting down the Grand Canal under a parasol of peacock's feathers, but this surprise was nothing to the succession of glorious shocks that were to come." - Lady Diana Cooper

What a dame! The middle 3 pics are of her in outfits that she commissioned for a variety of costume parties. She looks faaaaaab. It's making me question my garden gnome costume for Halloween. The last image is Carine Roitfeld of French Vogue styled as the Marchesa by Karl Lagerfeld in 2003. How had I not seen these before?!?! MC makes me want to wear my faux fur jacket, even though I was told at the weekend that it made me look like an extra from Where The Wild Things Are - with a "not in a good way" clarification thrown in, just in case of any doubt.
