Le Flufy.

I have a friend called Carol Le Flufy.
Carol Le Flufy is pretty awesome for many reasons.
Here are just a few:

1. CLF introduced me to the wonderful blog: mrs-o.org
MO's style is MAJOR (a CLF word-favourite). Her arms inspire green-eyed monsters in my eyeballs.

2. CLF took me to Soho House in West Hollywood a couple of weeks ago. It's a private member's club that I would otherwise never be allowed to step a foot in. The interior is like an old English drinking club: taxidermy, dark wooden paneling, insane upholstered furniture and cushy leather Chesterfields. There is a 360 degree view of the Hollywood Hills and the bartender made one of the best dirty martinis I have ever had. The only problem with it was that it was full of successful, creative British people. It made my accent totally commonplace. Balls.

3. CLF lends me books (unsolicited no less!). These 2 arrived at the weekend. I will be devouring them soon. (Portrait Of An Addict As A Young Man and Life Would Be Better If I lived In That House).

4. CLF has a cabin/house thing on Bowen Island near Vancouver. I google image it at work and pretend I am there.

5. Occasionally she emails me pictures of her cat Grace emailing.

I'm stocking up on good books to take on holiday next month - I ordered this one a while ago from my local-best-bookstore-in-the-universe, Skylight Books, and it arrived yesterday. Huzzahs. I know, I know - I could have ordered on it on amazon and saved money but I lUfF Skylight Books. I like this fella, David Mitchell. One of his other books, "Cloud Atlas" is in my top ten all-time-all-stars. I am much looking forward to reading it.

I am a bit perturbed that the Hollywood people have deemed it necessary to make "On The Road" into a film. This book is also in my top ten. I don't understand why it needs to be a film. Why can't they leave it be. It's supposed to be a book. Not a film. Am I behaving like an old grump? Poss.

Hiatus.

I am on hiatus! I've never been on hiatus before! But now I am! I am on hiatus from doing the window displays at Lawson-Fenning. The bosses have decided to keep the window full of furniture and open and fresh for the summer months - which makes complete sense because we are trying to sell furniture afterall! It means I have more time on my hands while I'm here at work, so hopefully this will translate into more blogposts. Fingers crossed. Of course it could also translate into naval gazing but I will try to be on top of that.

My friend Doan went to NYU. She has a huge brain. I may lobotomize her, steal some of this large cerebellum and enroll at the Department of Philosophy. Because this above, is where the students of philosophy study. What????

This is the old port in Tel-Aviv - neglected for 50 years but then in 2003 the people-who-make-decisions-about-public-space decided to regenerate and hired Mayslits-Kassif Architects. What an outstanding job they did. In 2007 alone, 2.5 million people visited the port. The design is very "undulating" (excellent word) and is supposed to mirror the mythological dunes the port was originally built on. Love.

Fucknuts! The new Hermes book is wonderful. My Mum collects Hermes scarves - so's I might have to get this book for her birthday. Luckily I don't think she reads this - she is getting very technologically savvy; she has an iphone and an email account but I think blogs have yet to grab her. She does still try to turn on the telly with the house phone after all and her iphone makes her jump (with fright not excitement).

All the st-st-stunning photographs in this book are scenes from the Pacific Northwest and could be scenes from a Twilight film. I can not abide the Twilight books - for a few reasons - but mostly because whoever sub-edited them must have been on CRACK. But, I loves the films. I love them because they are campy and fabulous. I can't wait for the next one because David Slade's directing it and he's the cat's pyjamas. I am firmly in Team-Jacob-Werewolf camp. Sir, Yes, Sir!

The wonderful Mister Todd Cole came by the store today. He's ridiculously talented. I was asking him questions and generally being nosey about the short film he just made with the Rodarte sisters and he mentioned he had also just done a video for Charlotte Gainsbourg! Who I love! Who I was listening to at that very minute! Of course as soon as he left I scuttled over to his website and watched both. Brizzziliant (which is a million times a brilliant - I am on pain meds - allowances must be made). Here is the CG video - this is the first time I've tried to post a moving image so fingers crossed.

Daphne & Zandra! It sounds like a wonderful television show and one that I would most definitely watch. I should be allowed to name tv. shows. Cougar Town?! Really?! I'm pretty sure anyone could come up with a name better than that.

I found this book while I was pottering around Waterstone's The Bookstore in Cardiff. Cardiff is the capital of Wales and near to where my Mum lives. I once worked in Cardiff for 6 months at a mortgage company. It was whore-rific. But Cardiff is GORGE and in the last two years has become full of the most insane shops. Anyway - Penguin have released a selection of classic novels from the seventies and Zandra Rhodes has designed the covers for them...B-A-N-A-N-A-S. I would have bought them all but I was worried about my luggage limit. Curses.
